I recently got ahold of this book from my local library, Hungry Planet. It's great. The writer and photographer travel around the world living with different families for a week at a time, and then photographing them with a week's worth of food. It's fascinating to not only to see what people eat, but how much of which foods. They also state how much they spend. There's a large family from Bhutan, which spends about five dollars a week, all the way to a small family in Germany, that shells out 500.00! I can't stop looking at the gorgeous photos and reading the great essays. A definite must for anyone interested in food or different cultures, or both.
